How to become an environmentally conscious paddling professional

  1. Consideration & rules save lives

    Stay alert to protect yourself and others! The right-hand rule and "right before left" also apply on the water. When overtaking, please keep a generous distance. Attention: Commercial shipping always has the right of way! Furthermore, privately used, motor-driven boats must give way to wind- and muscle-powered pleasure boats. Sailors and surfers have the right of way over rowing boats, kayaks and SUPs. Find out in advance about current water levels, construction work and lock times. 

  2. Leave nature natural

    Densely overgrown shore areas are the habitat of numerous animal species. Keep your boat away from sensitive shore areas and sail around shallow waters. Official embarkation and disembarkation points as well as water recreation areas are marked and often also have sanitary facilities. In addition to the "Bed + Canoe" hostels, many attractive camping and bivouac sites await you; forbidden "wild camping" does not have to be! Use only the designated areas for campfires and barbecues. Make sure that no rubbish is left behind!

  3. Simply switch off (everything)

    A holiday means switching off. If you leave your jukeboxes switched off, you can listen to nature all the better: The cawing of the cranes, the flirting and singing of the reed warblers or the chirping of the crickets in the early evening. Nothing is more relaxing than listening to the silence on the water. For the sake of nature and your fellow human beings, avoid making noise even by talking and shouting too loudly. And beware: there is also a blood alcohol limit for road users on the water!
