The bathing area by Lake Köthener See is on the southern shore of the lake and is reached via the village square ("Dorfplatz"). It has a catering outlet, bathroom facilities and a sandy bathing area. The lake is part of the UNESCO Spreewald Biosphere Reserve and also includes a small island to the east of the village district of Köthen.

Lake Köthener See undoubtedly has one of the most beautiful natural bathing areas between Berlin and the Spreewald Forest. Even in late summer, the water quality in the lake is high.

The artificially created sandy bathing area not only provides a gentle slope into the water; youngsters also love its “beach atmosphere”. A meadow with picnic area and a jetty round off the amenities. In summer, the fisherman sells fresh fish here every Saturday. Visitors can fortify themselves in the restaurant, just 100 metres away.
