We wonder if Santa Claus has also fallen in love with the dreamlike landscape around Himmelpfort. At least Santa has his second home here during Advent, when he answers the many letters that land in Brandenburg's only Christmas post office all year round. His parlour can be visited in the Himmelpfort Christmas House, and the monastery garden behind the café is a place for events in summer. The Cistercian monks must have thought the place was heavenly beautiful when they settled here around 700 years ago, thus laying the foundation stone for Himmelpfort. On the headland between Lakes Stolp, Haus, Moderfitz and Sidow, they built their monastery complex, the ruins of which can still be visited. With its location in the wooded and water-rich Uckermark Lakes Nature Park on the border to Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the village is now a popular recreation area and is also known for its good coffee, its own chocolaterie and numerous places to stay.
