What do I need for a fishing trip in Brandenburg?

Whether you are a hobby angler or a professional - in the state of Brandenburg you can fish for peaceful fish (carp, rudd, roach, tench, etc.) without a fishing licence. A federal fishing licence is only required for fishing for predatory fish (eel, pike, zander, perch, catfish, etc.). In both cases, please observe the closed seasons and the minimum sizes for individual fish!

For your fishing trip in Brandenburg you will also need:

  • A fishing licence stamp (glued into the proof card).
  • A fishing permit/permit from the owner or leaseholder of the water body
  • An identity document

You can obtain the necessary documents and other useful information and maps of the Brandenburg Lake District from local fishing shops and selected tourist information offices.

When going fishing in the Ruppiner Seenland, pay attention to the area of validity of your fishing permit. This is because fishing law is state law and differs in part from one federal state to the next.
