It is very shallow. Just a few metres from the shore there is a thick layer of mud in the water. If you wish to fish here with waders, you have to be very careful as you can very easily sink into the mud.
The shore area is heavily overgrown with reeds and even in the middle of the very shallow waters there is too much vegetation to use a rig. On Oranienburger Weg there is a slipway for visitors’ own boats. The water level here is regulated by the River Havel, which runs in a north-westerly direction.
Fully paying members of DAV Berlin – LAV Brandenburg can fish here free of charge. The use of 2 rods and night fishing are allowed here. The night fishing permit is available if you purchase a week or month permit.
In Brandenburg, coarse fishing is permitted without a permit, so holidaymakers can fish to their hearts’ content here. You will need a tourist fishing permit, however, which is available at almost all tourist information centres.
This lake is managed by Landesanglerverband Brandenburg e.V. under the reference number P 14-112; the association also sells day, week and month permits. It is maintained by the fishing association Kreisanglerverband Oberhavel e.V.
