Zaaren Lock is part of the Upper Havel waterway. This waterway represents the connection between Berlin and the Mecklenburg Lake District and is accordingly of great importance to water tourism in the Brandenburg Lake District. When it was modernised in 2019, the lock was fitted with automatic works and can now be operated by water tourists themselves.

Location: Upper Havel Waterway (OHW) 36.08 kilometres

Chamber length: 42.79 metres, chamber width: 5.6 metres, drop height: 0.92 metres

In the season from the beginning of April to the end of September, the lock is in operation every day from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. In October it is in operation until 8 p.m., in November until 6 p.m. From December to March, the lock is in operation until 4 p.m. For up-to-date information, please consult the website of the National Waterways and Shipping Office. The lock is operated by the Zehdenick lock control centre.
