Along the way is the Moorstich, where the valuable natural moor is extracted at a depth of around 1.60 metres for the SaarowTherme. The Bad Saarow moor is considered a true natural treasure: rich in humic acids, minerals and trace elements, it has been valued for healing and wellness treatments for over a hundred years.

A colourful character once lived by the meadows: the legendary moor witch Catherine Kohlhoff. In her house right on the edge of the meadows, she earned her living as a painter, fortune teller, healer and herbalist. The house no longer exists today, but the stories about her work live on. A little further along the path, you can even discover the mysterious ‘moor witch's heart recipe’ – a lovely detail that makes the tour special.

If you walk all the way around the meadows, you will reach the Scharwenka Kulturforum before the path continues straight on to the former moor baths, now the SaarowCentrum. After the healing moor was discovered in the Wierichwiesen in 1912, a modern moor bath was built here.

The west wing of the building once housed the baths, into which the processed moor mud was pumped through pipes. During the First World War, the army command made extensive use of the baths to treat soldiers suffering from rheumatism. Today, the historic building houses a library, offices, temporary exhibitions and the registry office's wedding room.

Across the car park, you can directly access the spa gardens at Lake Scharmützel – a wonderful place to relax, take a deep breath and enjoy yourself. Here you will also find a sculpture of the Moorhexe (Moor Witch), which serves as a reminder of the famous personality associated with this place.

The tour culminates at the SaarowTherme. Here, the valuable natural moor is used in various forms of therapy – classically as a moor pack or moor bath. In a moor pack, the heated moor is applied to specific areas of the body. The soothing deep heat promotes blood circulation, relieves tension and combines natural power with relaxation in a special way.
