The fifth stage of the 66 Lakes Trail leads from Birkenwerder directly into the charming Briesetal valley. Passing Lake Bodden, the trail follows narrow paths and wooden walkways through wet lowlands and quiet forest sections where nature appears largely untouched. Here, the Briesetal valley reveals its original, almost mystical side. Towards the end of the tour, the landscape opens up and transforms into the typical Brandenburg landscape – sandy paths, sparse pine forests and birch trees accompany the trail to Wensickendorf. A varied route between floodplain landscape and Brandenburg forest.

Route: Birkenwerder - Wensickendorf

Directions: From Birkenwerder station, the trail first leads through the town via the street ‘An der Bahn’, through Erich-Mühsam-Straße and Gartenstraße to Brieseallee. This is where the actual hiking trail begins. After a short section along the idyllic Boddensee lake, the route plunges into the quiet Briesetal valley. Wooden footbridges lead through damp lowlands where water, forest and light create a special atmosphere. Without major interference with nature, the almost mystical floodplain landscape remains unspoilt. Towards the end of the stage, the landscape opens up to reveal the typical Brandenburg landscape: sandy paths, pine forests and sparse birch groves accompany the route to Wensickendorf.

Path conditions: asphalt paths, paved paths, natural paths, paths with loose surfaces, gravel paths
