The home of the writer and doctor and his wife Else is a museum as well as being used as a vibrant venue for readings, discussions, exhibitions and other encounters. As an individual monument, the memorial is also part of a listed estate where guided tours are offered that tell of its dark past: it was built by prisoners from Sachsenhausen concentration camp.
