The circular trail around the Kleiner Wentowsee leads through the middle of the beautiful Fürstenberg forest and lake area. Swamp forest and small streams, mixed forest and wide meadows, village road and forest path - the hiking route takes you along varied routes and past two bathing spots that invite you to cool off.

Car: Dannenwalde is located directly on the federal road B96 and is easily accessible from Berlin.

Route description/highlights along the route:

The circular route begins at the Umweltbahnhof (environmental station) in Dannenwalde, where the RE 5 train stops every two hours. From the station, the route leads over the level crossing a few steps to the north and continues along the road ‘Zum Wentowsee’ to the lake shore. On the northern shore of the 50-hectare lake, the hiking route runs counterclockwise through a varied mixed forest dominated by different tree species. The path winds its way, flanked by warning signs, through a former military training area; to the north of the path there was once a Russian artillery ammunition depot. The route then leads through the so-called ‘Wiesenpläne’, an unspoilt swamp forest area crossed by the Polzow Canal and the Pölzer Fließ stream.

The Polzow Canal is crossed at the Polzow guard house. The route then follows the asphalted Buchholzer Weg southwards. After a left-hand bend, the route runs alongside lush meadows through which the Torfgraben ditch meanders. A little later, wide fields open up and you reach the tranquil village of Seilershof. From the main road, the route turns left into Seestraße to the southern shore of Lake Wentow, where several bathing areas with sunbathing lawns and a children's playground invite you to linger. The campsite snack bar also offers an opportunity to take a break.

At the edge of town, the railway line is crossed once again. The trail then continues north along the main road, past the Luise monument. This was erected in 1811 at the spot where the body of Queen Luise of Prussia (Luise Duchess of Mecklenburg-Strelitz) was handed over from Mecklenburg to Prussian sovereignty. After crossing the Tornowfließ stream, the route leads back to Dannenwalde. On the way to the railway station, the barefoot path on Bahnhofsweg invites you to take a short break and enjoy the experience.
