Moderfitzsee is a small natural lake near Himmelpfort, a district of Fürstenberg/Havel. The easy circular hiking trail leads close to the wooded shore, offering fantastic lake views and idyllic bathing spots. Covered rest areas invite you to enjoy a picnic. Arrival/departure:

By car: A10 motorway (northern Berliner Ring) at the Oranienburg junction, then follow the B96 to Fürstenberg/Havel. In Fürstenberg take the K6515 to Himmelpfort as far as Zur Hasenheide 14.

Public transport: RE 5 (from Berlin main station or from Stralsund or Rostock) to Fürstenberg/Havel main station. From here to the bus station (1 min. walk) change to bus 839 in the direction of Bredereiche. The bus stops in Himmelpfort at Zur Hasenheide 14.

Route: Himmelpfort - around the Moderfitzsee - Himmelpfort

Route description:

The starting point for the hike is the ‘Zur Hasenheide’ car park, located right next to the Himmelpforter Chocolaterie. The hiking trail is marked with a green dot on a white background in a square shape. Head towards the road and turn left on the opposite side. After a short distance, you will reach a wooden sculpture at the straw bridge. This depicts a monk carrying a girl wrapped in straw. According to legend, the young lady was smuggled into the monastery. You can find out how the story ends on site. At this point, follow the hiking trail to the right so that the lake is always on your left. You will pass a jetty that is also suitable for canoeists and kayakers. The trail leads along the shore. Later on, you will come across the hiking trail that leads around Haussee lake. Both trails lead together over ‘Die Schmalung’. ‘Die Schmalung’ bridges the connection between Moderfitzsee and Haussee lakes at this point. After that, the two hiking trails separate again. You will reach a small settlement called Pian. The trail turns left and continues along a cycle path and road back to the starting point.
