Oven city Velten The green town with industrial history

The fact that Velten once became a rich industrial town through the production of tiled stoves and pottery can not only be guessed from a stroll past the "Töppervillen". The invention of the white fused glaze made the "Veltener Kachel" (Velten tile) a global concept and the stoves and ceramic goods produced here were in demand far beyond Berlin. In 1905, the kiln town experienced its heyday with almost 40 factories and around 100,000 tile stoves produced annually. This also attracted famous ceramists such as Hedwig Bollhagen to Velten and today makes the town the starting and ending point of the German Clay Route. Nature fans and adrenaline junkies get their money's worth at Bernsteinsee: fine sandy bathing spots give a real vacation feeling, hiking and fishing are also possible. There is also a water-skiing facility, whose large terrace offers a fantastic view and cool drinks.
