The 36 metre high memorial commemorates the victory of Brandenburg Elector Frederick William at the Battle of Fehrbellin against the Swedes on June 18, 1675. This is why he came to be known as the Great Elector. The triumphal column is to be found right where the Brandenburg artillery were positioned during the battle. State Counsel Spieker provide the design according to which the grey sandstone plinth and the tower itself, built of field stone and then clinkered, were constructed. At the top of the column, there is a bronze statue of Victoria, the goddess of victory, cast at the Kunst- und Glockengießerei Lauchhammer foundry. At the base, there is a bust honouring Elector Frederick William.

At a height of 23 metres, you come to a gallery with a wonderful panoramic view. To get to the gallery, you have to climb 114 steps. There is a restaurant very near by.
