Frederick the Great spent his best years as crown prince in Rheinsberg. Between 1736 and 1740, Frederick created a splendid court of muses. After his accession to the throne, his younger Brother Prince Henry took over the Rheinsberg palace and continued those activities brilliantly.

Today, Rheinsberg’s tradition of music, opera and theatre is still maintained by the famous Musical Academy and the Rheinsberg Chamber Opera. 

Rheinsberg, picturesquely located at Lake Grienerick and surrounded by one of Germany’s most beautiful landscape gardens, is one of the most attractive destinations in Brandenburg. Rheinsberg House is also home to the Kurt Tucholsky Literature Museum.
