The base at Zehdenick Castle Marina lies exactly halfway between Berlin and Neustrelitz. From here, you’ll set off onto the Upper Havel Waterway – one of the most beautiful waterways of all. A real dream for anyone seeking lush natural surroundings, absolute peace and solitude. Be sure to turn off into the smaller side channels too, where you’ll be almost completely alone on the water.
Heading north: Passing the historic Mildenberg Brickworks Park, you’ll reach the wonderfully peaceful waters of Wentow further north. As there is no inland waterway traffic here and passenger boats are very rare, you’ll find wonderful moorings for overnight stays. A stop-off in Fürstenberg/Havel is well worth it – whether for a leisurely stroll through the historic old town or a visit to the Baroque palace with its porcelain manufactory.
Heading south: Pure nature! From Liebenwalde, the ‘Lange Trödel’ (the western Finow Canal) branches off. Anyone looking to escape the big city can immerse themselves here in a genuine slice of Brandenburg’s primeval forest.
The rafts: space for up to eight people, no licence required and equipped with a weather-protected cabin.
